Stephen G. Drendall

Attorney Stephen Drendall has been licensed to practice law in Indiana since 1979 after a year of supervised practice with Legal Services Program of Northern Indiana. From the start his main areas of practice have been family law and consumer law. He has worked extensively in all areas of family law as a legal counselor and representative, mediator and court-appointed spokesman for children. Through his long work with LOGAN Center, Dungarvin and other advocates for the developmentally disabled, he has handled the most adult guardianships of any local attorney.
He is a Certified Family Law Specialist by the Indiana Family Law Specialization Board and a certified Family Law Mediator. He subscribes to newsletters and treatises of the National Consumer Law Center in Boston. He is the only attorney in the County listed under consumer law. He was a Public Defender for 18 years.
He is a member of the Indiana and St. Joseph County Bar Associations. He has served as Judge Pro Tem in criminal and civil divisions of the St. Joseph Superior Court. He has received service awards from the Indiana Pro Bono Commission, LOGAN, the Indiana Civil Liberties Union and Common Cause/Indiana. He has been a guest lecturer at Notre Dame Law School, Saint Mary’s College and area schools, and served on numerous civic Boards of Directors.
His main hobby is singing, as a soloist in area churches and synagogues and with the nationally-acclaimed South Bend Chamber Singers and Sacred Music at Notre Dame. He has soloed with the Elkhart and LaPorte Symphony Orchestras. He has completed two marathons. His wife, Deborah, is a South Bend native. His two children have graduated from Notre Dame.
